Alice Fleishman

Assistant Director of Historic and Folk Flutes

Alice is a seasoned traditional musician specializing in Irish wooden flute, whistle, and tenor banjo. With 27 years of performance experience and training from renowned Celtic camps, she performs with Sang Run, Wolf Creek Session, and Aurora Celtic, and has taught private whistle lessons and workshops for over a decade.

Formal training on classical silver flute through high school, classical ensemble work after high school.  Discovered Irish music, and the wooden “D” flute in 1997, then continued to study flute, whistle, and tenor banjo at traditional summer music camps including the Augusta Heritage Workshops (Elkins, WV), the Swannanoa Gathering (NC), East Durham Irish Music Camp (NY), Boxwood Festival (Nova Scotia), Goderich Celtic College (Ontario), Acadia Trad Festival (Maine), Zoukfest (New Mexico), and Cascadia Irish Week (Washington State).  Alice has taught private whistle lessons and occasional workshops for 10 years.  Performance Experience: 27 years playing festivals and events in the Mid-Atlantic as a member of the bands Sang Run, Wolf Creek Session, and Aurora Celtic.
