Troy Paolantonio

Dr. Troy Paolantonio holds advanced degrees in music and flute performance, with mentorship from renowned artists. He’s appeared as guest artist at major flute festivals and serves as program chair for the Mid-Atlantic Flute Convention. Also a geometric pendulum painter, Troy blends music and art to express emotion, memory, and connection.

Dr. Troy Paolantonio, 45, has been a musician for the US Army for 15 years and currently serves in the Army Field Band.

Troy's education includes degrees in flute performance and music education from The Florida State University, Masters in flute performance from University of South Florida, and Doctorate in music performance from the Catholic University of America. Mentors include Rene Miska, Charles Delaney, Stephanie Jutt, Eva Amsler, Dr. Kim McCormick, Robert Dick, Judith Mendenhall, and Alice Weinreb.      Dr. Paolantonio has been guest artist at the Kentucky Flute Festival in 2017, the Hampton Roads Flute Festival in 2019, and at colleges and universities across the US, and has served as program chair for the Mid Atlantic Flute Convention 2019-2021, and 2024-present.     Troy also has a riding career as an abstract geometric pendulum artist. Prominent showings include La Friche Art(s)‘istigue in Carcassonne, France; D Velez Gallery in New York; the Mulberry Culture Center in Florida, Artomatic DC 2024, the Light Street Library in Baltimore, and several awards of recognition through online and in person galleries and magazines.      Both pathways of music and pendulum art swing back and forth to find harmony in live performances with paintings inspired by the music. Painting endeavors also include capturing grief and loss in paintings that can help hold space with a color story that carries some of the burden of loss.     Troy lives in Glen Burnie, MD, teaches locally and online, and has two loving cats, Dash and Yoshi.
