Juan Carlos Narvaez
Juan Carlos Narváez is an American flutist committed to artistic freedom through body-instrument integration, creative expression, and disciplined practice. He performs with ensembles like Cincopation Wind Quintet and Aether Flute Quartet, Fischoff quarterfinalists. Specializing in contemporary techniques, he commissions new works and researches flute pedagogy. He studied in the U.S. and Spain.
Juan Carlos Narváez is an American flutist dedicated to artistic freedom through the integration of body and instrument, creativity, and disciplined practice. Passionate about chamber music, he performs with ensembles such as the Cincopation Wind Quintet and the Aether Flute Quartet, which reached the quarterfinals of the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition.
Narváez has a strong interest in contemporary music, specializing in extended techniques for flute, piccolo, and auxiliary flutes. This focus has driven him to commission new works by living composers and conduct creative research into pedagogy and performance of contemporary repertoire.
He holds a B.A. in Music Performance from West Virginia University, studying under Nina Assimakopoulos, and earned two Master’s degrees at Centro Superior Katarina Gurska and ESMuC in Spain with Susana Recio and Vicens Prats.
