Flute Choir Festival

At the Flute Choir Festival of the International Festival of Flutes, both individual flutists and entire flute choir ensembles are invited to join together in a rich, collaborative musical experience. Whether you come alone or as part of a group, you'll be folded into the festival’s inclusive ensembles, creating a powerful sense of community and shared purpose through music.

Flutists of all ages and abilities are welcome, with choirs formed to accommodate everyone, ensuring that there is a place for every participant, no matter your experience level. Each choir will rehearse daily, building musicality and camaraderie, and will perform in the closing gala concert, celebrating the culmination of the festival.

Additionally, you’ll have the chance to participate in the creation of the world’s largest flute choir, featuring both in-person and virtual participation. Flutists from across the globe are invited to be part of this one-of-a-kind ensemble, celebrating musical diversity on an international stage.

The Flute Choir Festival is designed to foster musical growth and offers a welcoming, supportive environment for all. We also invite choirs and individuals to submit proposals to showcase their talents in this global celebration of flute music.

The festival is deeply committed to inclusivity and accessibility, welcoming flutists from all backgrounds. Scholarships are available to ensure that all flutists, have the opportunity to participate and grow through this unique experience.

The International Festival of Flutes: People | Place | Culture, hosted by West Virginia University, takes place on lands that include the ancestral territories of the Shawnee, Lenape (Delaware), Haudenosaunee (Seneca, Cayuga, Onondaga, Oneida, Mohawk, Tuscarora), Cherokee, and many other Indigenous peoples.

We honor and recognize the Indigenous Nations and communities who have stewarded this region since time immemorial, and on whose ancestral lands we gather today to celebrate diverse musical traditions and cultural expressions from around the world.
